Tibet

I have never actually been to Tibet, but I flew around it in between Frankfort and Hong Kong in July, 1999.  The picture is not very clear since we were close to the Gobi Desert and the air was quite hazy.  However, the mountains were out there and could be seen far better by eye than the camera recorded.  Interestingly, the Chinese government does not allow flying over Tibet, so the flight was much, much longer than it needed to be.

From-Air-0799.jpg (58264 bytes) A view from the right side of a Lufthansa.747-400 as we flew just north of Tibet.  Look carefully for mountains in the full picture in the haze.

Cheers,
