Yale Computer Science FAQ - Backup FAQ

Unix

Normally, when a unix machine is set up in CS, it is added to the backup schedule. To verify that your machine is being backed up on a regular basis, please contact Mark Wogahn.

Windows

There are no locally provided backups for windows machines. Information Technology Services (ITS) now offers to faculty and staff a new and convenient way to backup and restore data on desktop and laptop computers. TSM is Tivoli's Storage ManagerŪ, a system that uses the campus network to backup data from local hard drives. TSM is compatible with Windows, Macintosh, UNIX, and OS/2 systems.

To have your machine backed up and for further information, please see: http://www.yale.edu/adsm. It is the end-users responsibility to sign-up for backups.
